Produced for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, this special edition Longines Conquest V.H.P. ticks all the boxes that make it a winner from any angle. As the Official Partner and Timekeeper of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Longines is no slouch in the field of precision timekeeping and keeps that attribute tall and proud on this quartz watch.
The V.H.P. stands for Very High Precision, and that’s immediately on show with a published timing performance variation of +/- 5 seconds… a year! Most other quartz watches operate around +/- 2 seconds a month, so Longines is hitting it out of the park with this technology. In addition, Longines says that you have 4 whole years before you need a battery change.
To keep the movement safe, Longines has implemented a Gear Position Detection System or GPD. In the event of a magnetic force, the GPD disconnects the hands to protect the gears from any unnecessary tension. In addition, Longines has also introduced a Smart Crown on the watch. The Smart Crown helps set the time in a quick and efficient manner.
The dial has splashes of orange and blue, taking inspiration from the Gold Coast logo, and the blue Koala bear mascot of this year’s games. All of this is housed in a 43mm stainless steel case and limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide; with only 22 pieces available in Singapore.
The Longines Conquest V.H.P. Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games special edition watch is available at the Longines boutiques at Marina Bay Sands and Marina Square.
